Using super foods in drinks, smoothies and juices is one of the most popular ways to help you achieve your weight loss goals. It may be worthwhile adding the strategies outlined below to your own personal weight loss strategy.

There are several drinks which are known to promote good health and help with weight loss, but which ones actually work?

Drinks that help with weight loss should:

And the best known ones for doing this are:

Green Tea

Green tea has a long history in Asian culture for providing health benefits and much of this is due to something called EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate). Thankfully EGCG also has metabolism boosting effects that can help with losing weight too. Make sure to incorporate green tea from brewed tea bags (not pre-bottled drinks) or try drinking Matcha tea, which is essentially concentrated green tea.

Black and Oolong tea

These tea varieties also have beneficial chemicals that can help the body with weight loss. Black and oolong tea are a good source of antioxidants which can also slightly boost metabolism and help control hunger. Since these teas contain a moderate amount of caffeine, limit consumption to no more than 2-3 cups per day.


Coffee

Coffee by itself is a very healthy beverage that’s packed full of health benefits for the liver and kidneys. Research shows that it can have a slight boost to someone’s weight loss efforts as well. The problem is that most people often combine their coffee with unhealthy ingredients like sugar and cream. Try just having coffee black or with a bit of all natural sweetener instead and limit to 1-2 cups per day so that you don’t become dependent on the caffeine for energy.

Hibiscus

Hibiscus is a naturally sweet flower from hot regions like California and Jamaica. It’s often brewed as a hot or cold tea. The notable fact about Hibiscus is that it’s higher in antioxidants than almost any other beverage in the world! These antioxidants have a wide range of health benefits, while contributing little to no calories. Most people like to sweeten this tea with all natural sweeteners like stevia or errythritol too. It’s a must for anyone with a sweet tooth

Smoothies and Juicing

Smoothies and juicing are also extremely popular for weight loss purposes. The reason being is because they make getting enough fruits and vegetables very easy. Also, some ingredients like flaxseed, chia seed, kale or spices just go so much better in juices or smoothies than they do in traditional meals

Nevertheless, significant evidence is now showing that juicing, because it removes most of the fiber in fruits and vegetables does not promote health nor help with losing weight nearly as much as smoothies do. Furthermore, when one juices fruits and vegetables it essentially strips these foods of their sugar while removing majority of their antioxidants. It’s for this reason that anyone looking for drinks that help with losing weight, stick to smoothies that incorporate the WHOLE food, rather than juices which strip parts of a fruit/vegetable away.



We must also be realistic here too. NO drink, smoothie or juice will not cause significant weight loss by itself. These recommended beverages should be thought of as something that makes a small additional benefit for people. Nevertheless, over time, one who takes advantage of these drinks along with a healthy diet will indeed lose more weight than a person who does not. So, incorporate your favorites and know you are supporting both your health and weight loss by doing so.
